Florida’s 2024 hurricane season arrives with a rainy deluge

A tropical disturbance on Wednesday flooded a large portion of

southern Florida, obstructing roads, stranding cars, and causing delays for the Florida Panthers as they traveled

to Edmonton, Canada, for Stanley Cup games against the Oilers.

At about the same time that the hurricane season began in early June

the unorganized storm system was moving across Florida from the Gulf of Mexico.

This year is expected to be among the busiest in recent memory due to worries

that storm severity is rising due to climate change.

that storm severity is rising due to climate change.

The National Hurricane Center stated that the disturbance has not developed into a cyclone

and that there is only a remote possibility that it will become a tropical system when it exits Florida and enters the Atlantic Ocean.
